National Police Week 2010 Activity Dates
Official Dates of National Police Week 2010 are Sunday, May 9 through Saturday, May 15
To help survivors and law enforcement agencies "save the dates” for National Police Week 2010 activities in Washington, DC,here is information on the planned activities.
Wednesday, May 12: Early Arrival Day
Thursday, May 13: Official Arrival Day, National Police Week Check-In, and The Annual Candlelight Vigil at the
National Law Enforcement Memorial
Friday, May 14: First day of the National Police Survivors’ Conference and C.O.P.S. Kids/Teens activities
Saturday, May 15: The National Police Officers’ Memorial Service at the West Front of the United States Capitol
Sunday, May 16: Second day of the National Police Survivors’ Conference, C.O.P.S. Kids/Teens activities, and a
Hoedown at the Hilton
Monday, May 17: Official departure day
While hotels for National Police Week 2010 have been secured, the only way to make reservations at the official National Police Week hotels is through C.O.P.S. Please take no action until invitations have been received sometime in late January or early February. Online registration will be open on C.O.P.S.’ website in early February.
We are currently looking to fill the following two positions; Treasurer and State Trustees
Duties of the Treasurer:
Section 1: Shall act as an official spokesperson for the Chapter.
Section 2: Shall be responsible for and have the custody of the books, records, documents and other office paraphernalia and equipment under the general authority and orders of the President and Executive Board.
Section 3: Shall file a quarterly financial statement with the Chapter Coordinator, thirty (30) days following the end of each quarter (i.e., due April 30, July 30, October 30, and January 30).
Section 4: Shall provide copies of all other financial reports (i.e. audits, etc.) to the Chapter’s Executive Board and the National Chapter Coordinator by September 30 each year to meet necessary State and Federal reporting requirements.
Section 5: Shall establish and maintain checking and/or savings accounts as determined by the Executive Board. Each account requires signatures of the Executive Board. Two signatures required for checks written over $500.00.
Section 6: Shall promptly deposit all funds received by the Arizona Chapter of C.O.P.S. in the appropriate bank account.
Section 7: Shall at the direction of the Executive Board ensure an annual audit of the financial records is conducted.
Section 8: Shall report all expenditures of the chapter to the membership at the next general meeting.
Section 9: Shall perform other duties as assigned.
Duties of County Trustees:
Section 1: Shall be an official spokesperson for the Arizona Chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors for their respective county/region.
Section 2: Shall be responsible for collection and dissemination of information relative to C.O.P.S. in their respective County.
Section 3: Shall be responsible for fund raising on a local level for the Arizona Chapter and National C.O.P.S..
Section 4: Shall contact local and county law enforcement agencies offering information about C.O.P.S..
Section 5: Shall keep the Executive Board members informed of any Line of Duty Deaths or seriously injured law enforcement officers within their respective counties.
Section 6: Shall be appointed by the Chapter President with the approval of the Executive Board.
Section 7: Shall have Trustee’s in each of the Counties/Regions within the State of Arizona as deemed by the President. Except the county of Maricopa where there will be a total of four trustees and the county of Pima were there will be two.
